LCD stands for "Liquid Crystal Display" and refers to an optical device technology that is widely used in all manner of electronic devices, from calculators and alarm clocks to digital projectors and flat-panel monitor displays. Most blogs using the LCD tag are referring to the term as it pertains to flat panel monitors, displays and televisions. LCD televisions are gaining in popularity among flat-panel television consumers and are also used widely in corporate, government and educational environments. Digital signage is another area of steady LCD panel growth.
