limo

A limo or limousine is a luxury car with a lengthened wheelbase and typically driven by a chauffeur. Traditional limos are sedan automobiles, although some sports cars or trucks can also be lengthened to the size of a limo.

Although limousines are sometimes owned by wealthy individuals, many limousines are employed by governments and large private companies for the transportation of VIPs. Since most limousines are vehicles for hire, they are the upmarket alternative to regular taxicabs.

Companies that operate limousine fleets will often use state of the art vehicle tracking technologies to ensure the safety of their vehicles and the high profile individuals they usually carry.

The very first limousine was made in 1902 and, for maximum privacy, it featured a driver's seat outside the covered compartment. The first limousine to represent an extension of a regular sized sedan was created in 1928, exclusively for the purpose of transporting famous musicians along with their band and equipment.
