A logo is a graphic mark or emblem used mainly by commercial enterprises looking to increase knowledge of their brand with the public. There are three types of logos: Type or Text, where the logo is only displayed with typography or text. The second type is graphical, where the logo is only displayed with some form of created graphic. The third type of logo, which is the most common, is a combination of the two, often called a combo logotype.

A logo does not need to be overly complex, in fact, the most recognizable logos on the planet are deceptively simply.

Volkswagon's VW

In addition, a logo may convey a tacit idea and be visually exacting to the product or niche, think a hamburger to convey a hamburger restaurant to an abstract image to convey shoes. Think Nike's Swoosh.
