lumber

Lumber is wood that has been sawed and prepared for use in construction of frames and structures.

The term 'lumber' is used mostly in the United States and Canada, whereas in other countries like the United Kingdom and Australia, lumber is called 'timber'.

Lumber can be finished or unfinished. Unfinished or rough lumber is used as raw material to make furniture and other items that must be cut and shaped.

Rough lumber is usually offered in hardwoods. Finished lumber is mostly used in the construction industry, and is therefore generally available only in standard pre-cut sizes for that purpose.
