macosx

The original version of Mac OS X was released in 1999 with the Mac OS X v10.0 "cheetah" being released in 2001.

The newest version released is the Mac OS X v10.6 or "snow leopard".

Although the newest operating system was created for Macintosh computers, a slimmed down version may also be used on other Apple products such as the iPod, iPod Touch, iPhone and the iPad.

A couple highlights for the Mac OS X are the "Time Machine" and "Spaces". Time machine is an application that saves information instantly on the computer. When a file is updated it will save the old file along with the updated file. It works like a restore point on a PC.

Another application worth mentioning is "Spaces," which allows a person to view up to four programs at the same time on their desktop.
