malware
Malware is a modern term, used as a shortened version of 'malicious software.'
Generally, malware is designed to infiltrate a computer system without the user's knowledge or consent.
Computer professionals use the term malware to describe many forms of harmful software meant to breech the security of a computer in some fashion.
The two main types of malware programs are spyware and adware. It also includes more destructive items, such as keyloggers, Trojan horses, worms, and viruses.
Anti-virus programs are often good protection against malware when kept up to date. Firewall protection may also assist in blocking malware from a computer.
You'll find bloggers talking about malware at sites like The David Kirkpatrick Blog and GeekOSystem.com.
