Marijuana, or cannabis, is a hearty plant that has been cultivated for more than ten thousand years for its durable fibres and seed, and as a food source. It is rich in protein, amino acids, and the whole spectrum of B vitamins. Cannabis is one of the 50 essential herbs in traditional Chinese medicine, as the THC acid it contains has numerous medicinal benefits as well as being an effective painkiller.


An abundant oil is produced by the plant, both from the seeds and as a resin from the body of the plant. Cannabis oil has a very high THC content, and its consumption in foods is often preferred to smoking as the method of ingestion.
