Nelson Mandela and Maitreya (The Christ) Meet

    http://discerningtheworld.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 09/ 05/ nelson-mandela-and-maitre…

5 September, 2008 — Deborah You know for a long time I have thought that a ‘miracle’ of sorts did indeed happened in South Africa after Mandela was released from prison.  No civil war, no bloodshed, it was almost as though it was just another day (a tense one, yes) but peaceful and full of hope.

Zimbabwe Opposition Loses Hope For Peace

    http://theimpudentobserver.com/ world-news/ zimbabwe-opposition-loses-hope-for-p…

Failure on the part of President Mbeki of South Africa to be a neutral advocate for the people of Zimbabwe has made clear he is no Nelson Mandela. The South African leader has consistently taken the side of his good friend, Robert Mugabe, a thug and murderer who has wrecked his nation in a made pursuit of power and wealth.

Carrot! RW Johnson on Tony Leon and On the Contrary

    http://reviews.book.co.za/ blog/ 2008/ 09/ 04/ carrot-rw-johnson-on-tony-leon-an…

RW Johnson gives us a contentious carrot for On the Contrary: Leading the opposition in the New South Africa, Tony Leon’s memoir. Perhaps it is less a carrot for the book and more one for Leon himself. In his review, Johnson describes Leon as being “by far the most successful leader the South African liberal tradition has had”, which sets the “play the man, not the book” tone.

    http://blogs.thetimes.co.za/ hartley/ 2008/ 09/ 03/ hugo-chavez-briefs-thabo-mbe…

An extract from the input given by Venezualan president, Hugo Chavez’s media briefing with South African president, Thabo Mbeki: Fortunately the attempt to impose on the world hegemony and uni-polar world has failed. In the horizon we can see rising a multi-polar world, and that is precisely the world we need.

    I can’t recall

Oh, this is bad, bad news for politicians with dirty laundry: MEMORY loss is widely considered as one of the banes of old age, but a world-first Australian study suggests that people over 50 who walk for just 2 1/2 hours a week can halt and even reverse it.

Surely Mbeki will not save Mugabe this time

    http://blogs.thetimes.co.za/ hartley/ 2008/ 08/ 25/ surely-mbeki-will-not-save-m…

THE arrest of two Zimbabwean MPs - both later released - as they entered parliament to be sworn in is about as blatant a slap in the face for democracy as one could conjure. But Robert Mugabe has been conjuring slaps in the face for democracy for decades, so it was all in a day’s work [...]
