medical insurance

The debate rages on about how to fix the broken health care system in America. Too many Americans have no health care coverage. Many big employers provide decent medical insurance benefits, but the costs continue to increase at an unsustainable rate. A large number of companies have to make reductions in their health insurance offerings, and many more can ill afford to have their employees covered at all.

Something needs to be done. Should we better protect doctors by capping the amount that can be rewarded in a lawsuit? Doctors perform unneeded procedures and tests driving up health care costs, passing on the increases to the medical insurance companies and then on to you and me because they don't want to misdiagnose or mistreat for fear they will be sued. There are no honest mistakes anymore it seems in such a litigious society. Many of the good and competent medical professionals are leaving the field for less contentious pastures.

Should we socialize health care as has been done in other countries? The argument against this is a poor standard of care and long waits to be seen by specialists.
