Born August 29, 1958, to a musically inclined working-class family in Gary, Indiana, Michael Joseph Jackson is one of the greatest selling musicians of all-time.

Michael Jackson began performing at a young age as a member of the Jackson 5 before establishing himself as a successful solo artist. His music career exploded in 1982 with the release of his sixth studio album Thriller, which transformed Michael into a media icon and one of the biggest artists in the history of pop music.

Despite unparalleled professional success, Michael Jackson's personal life has been under constant tabloid scrutiny. His visual appearance has undergone a dramatic change over the years, and he has developed an image as an abnormally shy and eccentric character with a fond appreciation for children. Rumors of child abuse and pedophilia began to surface, leading to Michael's eventual seclusion from the public eye.

The father of three, Michael caused a media frenzy in 1994 when he secretly married Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of rock 'n' roll legend Elvis Presley in the Dominican Republic. The marriage was short-lived however, and the two parted ways less than two years later.

Michael collaborated with younger sister Janet Jackson on the 1995 chart-topper "Scream," which demonstrated the duo's distaste for the media surrounding their family life.
