Did you know that one of the most popular summer uses of ski resorts is mountain biking? Resorts are the perfect spots. Resorts have lifts to take bikers and their bikes up the mountain and plenty of tree-free trails for bikers to come down. Plus, it's a completely different experience to be on a ski lift in the warmth of summer with a clear view of the mountains for miles.

Diehards, of course, laugh at the lifts. They take the mountain trails up as well as down. And they know their bikes. Mountain bikes (MTB) are as high-tech as some cars, with steel frames, shocks, fenders and the right kind of tires. Most bikers will have several different tire sets, depending on the terrain they are biking. The fatter the tires, the more challenging and downhill they expect to ride. It all goes toward making the experience of being on the mountain an invigorating one, whether or not one uses a lift to get to the top.
