Muscle Building also known as bodybuilding is a science that consists of training with weights to stimulate muscular hypertrophy while nourishing the body with proper nutrients to recover and synthesize new muscle tissue.
A muscle building diet will typically be high in protein and the exercise routines focus on medium to heavy weights. Athletes looking to increase mass and strength in order to enhance performance in their sports follow strict training and dietary regimens to gain muscle mass while staying lean, and simultaneously losing body fat.
The pressure to enhance performance led to some unforgettable controversies in professional sports with the use of HGH and anabolic steroids. While athletes mostly train for muscle building for functional reasons, bodybuilding has also become a sport in itself and a hobby for others that just want to get bigger and stronger.
