Big things can come in very little packages.

Take the term nano, for example. At its most basic, the term nano refers to very small things. But the rise of nano technology has been responsible for some very “big” breakthroughs over the last few years. This is why the word “nano” has become synonymous with cutting edge science. Nano technology makes the impossible become possible.

The miniscule nano world is used every day for things that range from the simple to the complex. For example, special nano coatings have been developed which repel dirt, and bring many benefits for those who can’t use harmful cleaning chemicals.

Mobile phones also use nano components and elements. Cellular phones have gotten substantially smaller in recent years, while becoming more effective and allowing for more features. It seems everything these days is being engineered on a miniature scale.

Nanoparticles are used in medical science to detect and treat diseases early, leading to improved survival rates. Nano concepts and techniques are also used in hospitals to prevent infections and diseases from spreading, and in medical devices that work better and are smaller and less invasive.
