Schultz studied Creative Writing at SF State and his newest volume speaks of grief, love, marriage, fear, fatherhood and depression.

Alone, tonight, in Amsterdam, NY, I walk past your old haunts: this shop, that yard. You’re gone. You’ve left your morning wait behind stacked pallets, where day-shift buzzers drill the air, sing for measured lengths of wood, of time, and thoughts of adolescent wives.

    Locomotion by Jacqueline Woodson

    http://koboreading.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 04/ 19/ hello-world/

I enjoyed this book because the entire thing was written in different forms of poetry. I’m no poetry expert so I don’t know how close each poem is to the style of poetry it is portraying but I thoroughly liked the variety: sonnet, epitaph, haiku. Each poem telling a bit of the story.

I'm still digging out, and can make no promises that this will be comprehensive. But here are a few things from around the Kidlitosphere worth noting: April is National Poetry Month. Several children's book bloggers will be highlighting and self-publishing poems during the month.
