William Gibson’s novel Neuromancer tells the story of a team of radically different technologically-savvy individuals who are recruited by a young artificial intelligence named Wintermute, who desires to bypass the limitations placed on it by its owners and the authorities.

I’ve just had the most amazing conversation about the man in the photograph. C Scott Young was, according to Mark Pesce, “the very, very first VRML designer. What he did — with no tools and for (literally) no money — changed the world.” And Mark should know, because he invented VRML.

The Internet is, of course, all abuzz over the $44.6 billion offer Microsoft has made for Yahoo. Twitter lit up like a Christmas tree with discussion of the offer. And it's a great deal for Yahoo with a 62% premium above Yahoo's close price on Thursday. Odds are if they don't take this offer, Microsoft will opt for the hostile takeover route.

Melbourne, Jan 10 (ANI): Hayden Christensen will star in Neuromancer, an adaptation of William Gibson’s cult 1984 novel. According to JoBlo.com, the 26-year-old Canadian actor will play the role of Case, an out-of-work computer hacker hired by a mysterious patron to participate in a seemingly impossible crime.

Neuromancer is one of the few books I can think of that manages to blend such a wide variety of styles and themes together so successfully. Drawing on or recalling anything from Blade Runner to the dirty underbelly noir of Raymond Chandler. Frankly, the book is kind of haunting.

I have a Google Alert set for the word cyberpunk. The latest buzz is swarming around JoBlo's report that Hayden Christensen is set to star as the character Case in the film adaptation of Neuromancer. It's interesting to me the way such news proliferates and spreads.
