I’m sure many of you think that the time for Restaurant Week has come and gone. But oh no no… there are quite a few restaurants that have extended their participation on through September 1st, but only offering the menu Monday through Friday. I have mixed feelings about Restaurant Week, which were somewhat confirmed by my two restaurant visits.

After a busy weekend and a day spent entirely in New York with no internet, I have so much to catch up on in my google reader and emails. And while I have been at it, I came across an unusual amount of great tips/advice, so I thought I would just post some of them.

Poor New Yorkers go crazy for restaurant week while servers, bartenders, and bussers are pulling out their hair. I totally recommend hitting up these restaurants while you can maybe afford to! Start reserving now! I never know about this usually until I’m elbow deep in drink-making, but now that I’m not bartending, I might have to go take advantage!

Reservations are now open for Summer Restaurant Week, which this year will run from July 21 through August 1, except on weekends. The deal gets you a a seat at some of New York's best restaurants for a three-course prix fixe lunch for $24.07, or dinner for $35. Tax, tip and drinks cost extra.

The Fifth Annual Brooklyn Restaurant Week will begin this Monday. Over 175 Brooklyn restaurants will offer a lunch or dinner prix-fixe menu for $23. This is a great opportunity to taste some of the gentrification that has swept Brooklyn bringing top-notch restaurants to Park Slope, Bed-Stu, Canarsie, and every neighborhood in between.
