news
The word news is primarily and simply defined by Merriam-Webster as "a report of recent events" and "previously unknown information." Whatever happens in the world around us, that "happening" can be considered news to the person or persons who don't know what has occurred.
For as long as humans have been around, if something happened, people communicated the news to someone else, whether it was by some primitive vocal language or by drawing pictures on a wall to let other people know what they've just learned or saw in another location. For centuries, this methodology was used by people worldwide and is still used today, although the primitive versions of communication seem to be only prevalent in some underdeveloped countries.
Today, there are numerous outlets to find current and archived news, including through printed newspapers such as the New York Times and the USA Today, online sites such as BBC News and MSNBC, and TV networks such as CNN and CBS News.
