We rode the Strip from the Sands to Mandalay Bay … Dahons, Novara, Xtracycles, Big Dummies, Mundos, A2B electric, a Bike Blender, and more. Trouble free, fun, and massive. Bike Hugger was there for the Green Bike Project debut. Participants meet at South Lake Union and rode to REI’s Flagship store for a press conference with dignitaries. We spotted the Green Bike a few months ago and “haven’t seen that much green in Seattle since Hempfest!” The participants covet their bikes and we weren’t able to ride one, but it’s a Novara Transfer with a nice, updated spec.

Last month we spotted the Green Bike frame and here’s the bike. The project launches next week. We’re attending the ceremony with posts to follow. Green Bike is a collaboration between King County, Cascade, and REI to provide bikes to commuters that drive their cars less.

The first four teams have qualified for the Coppa Italia second preliminary round - Novara, Benevento, Foligno and Sorrento. The new-look tournament kicked off tonight with the minnows going head-to-head for the right to enter the competition proper.

Hugga was invited to Novara’s 09 product photoshoot in Boise. We hung out, rode, blogged, and took lots of photos. That’s me with the photographer sprinting a Strada down Bogus Basin Road. Of all the bikes I rode in Boise — including Novara’s Urban bikes — I liked the Squadra and the Fusion the most.

Apologies Boise for not noticing you earlier. We were preoccupied with the better known Portlands, Seattles, and Minneapoleis. With your low buildings, wide roads, big bike lanes, and flat dowtown, you’re a natural for urban cycling.

Hugga visited REI HQ to preview the 09 Novaras with Steve Gluckman, Brand Manager. The 09 line is well-equipped, incremental, with lots of refinements; the introduction of a Buzz 29er, 700c Safari, and an Alfine bike featured in this video … We’ll spend more time with Novara next month, riding their bikes in Boise, and blogging it all up.

Orta San Giulio, a small village near Novara will be the backdrop of Arnaldo Pomodoro’s sculptures throughout the summer; if you want to see and enjoy the works of this important Italian artist all you have to do is take a stroll through its streets where his sculptures will be on display until 9th November.

A Twitter follower asked Got a recommended bike for a newbie wanting to make a suburb-to-town commute Haven’t ridden since my mtn bike days 8+ yrs ago I’d say check your local bike shop and look at Swobo, Redline, Kona, Surly and the usual suspects. There’s much value in commute bikes these days; especially with Novara at REI.
