nuclear
It used to be that when anyone heard the word "nuclear" they ran away screaming with their arms waving over their heads. Several generations grew up in the shadow of the threat of Nuclear War, and we just can't seem to shake the horrible connotations associated with that word.
George W. Bush may have helped break the ice when he set off a firestorm of criticism by pronouncing "nuclear" as "nuc-u-ler." No matter. The word is back in the public arena again and is being discussed now more than it has been in decades as a clean, reliable source of energy.
Saying that Nuclear Energy is just another source of energy, just more powerful, is like saying an IMAX movie theater is just like a television set, only bigger. Nuclear Power is an awesome source of power and is relatively clean.
Nuclear Power has gotten a bad reputation because of catastrophes like Chernobyl and Three Mile Island. And as tragic as those events were, nuclear power and nuclear reactors have come a long way since those disasters. On the other hand, nobody really knows how to properly dispose of nuclear waste or the associated costs of doing so, or when or if another plant may pop its top.
Bloggers speaking about things nuclear in nature can be found at sites like greennuclearbutterfly and irannuclearwatch.
