Twice I have sent Dandy across the lawn to the convenience store (we are vacationing with Mom in Canada) to pick up this or that. I made it over to the store today and the clerk pulled me over to say that on each of Andy's visits the other customers had been vigoursly commenting on what a nice polite well-behaved little boy he was.

This is one of several photos we took last week on a tour of one of the UTSA campuses (Univ of TX, San Antonio). It was a nearly surreal experience, touring a campus with a child of MINE -- not ME touring a campus, but entering the world of college mom. (My first 3 did get more education after high school, but not in so official a manner.

This picture gives a false sense, perhaps, of peace and closeness of two siblings? Actually, these two are VERY close, probably the closest of any 2 of my kids, and have never been apart from each other. They spend tons of time together, most of it fighting - but they are ALWAYS together.

Our new girls, ages 10 and 12, have been home exactly one year and we still have plenty of days where things go much less than smoothly. Days when rules grate and pain bubbles over and all they can think that the old life was oh, so much better. Today was one of those days.

I woke up this morning to our I-600 acknowledgement receipt in my inbox. It came last night, Friday night. If my STL to HCMC time conversion is correct, someone at USCIS sent it to me on Saturday morning at 11:23 a.m. Vietnam time. Bless you, kind and dedicated sir/ma’am, for going above and beyond to exceed my expectations.

No.......the girls are not in after curfew (see below), but they ARE gone. And I miss them soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. I even tried to pick the less-becoming photos of the girls in hopes it would help me miss them less. Nah....turns out it's true that moms really don't care much what you look like! ;-) Abigail is in TX.

Last night, I made a last minute trip to a city 2hrs away - took Max to stay with Laura for a while (pre-arranged) - for some reason, he's always respected her, when he's respected no one else. It was like this from the day he came home to us. We hadn't seen Laura for 2 years.
