When it comes to online banking, the clarion call seems to be "To the Bandwagon!" (said in your best Adam West voice).

More and more people are choosing to check their account, pay their bills, and receive their statements online as opposed to making multiple trips to the brick and mortar buildings that manage their money. Credit unions and banks are finding that if they don't offer online banking they are quickly falling behind the curve (and losing customers).

Online banking (or "internet banking" as it is sometimes called) allows people to conduct financial transactions on a secure website operated by their banking institution via a personal computer, laptop, or even iPhone. Banking and banking processes are now being conducted real time via a satellite device. In fact, with direct deposit of paychecks, more and more people have never even been to their actual bank except perhaps to open their account.

Online banking is the wave of the future to be sure — and as account transfers, investments, bill paying, wire transfers, application for a loans, etc. all begin to happen electronically, the actual physical buildings will be less and less necessary.
