online video
Online video usually refers to videos that are hosted on the Internet. The majority of videos found on the Internet are hosted at large video portals such as YouTube, Dailymotion or Hulu.
Some, but not all of those sites, limit their access to users from specific locations in the world. Hulu for instance limits access to its videos to people from the United States.
But even global sites like YouTube provide content owners with options to limit their videos to a specific target audience.
Most online videos are offered as flash movies that require Adobe Flash to be installed on the user's computer system. The introduction of HTML5 with its video playback capabilities might reduce the dominance of Flash in the online video sector.
Many users are looking for ways to download online videos to be able to view them on their local computer systems. Search engines are filled with articles on how to download YouTube videos or videos from other websites.
You'll find bloggers talking about online videos at sites like Blorge and Ghacks Technology News.
