Oprah Winfrey (b. 1954) overcame a difficult childhood to achieve great success in the broadcasting industry. After years of working as a TV news reporter and anchor, Winfrey launched a talk show in 1986 which is still on the air. Now the head of a media empire, Winfrey is one of the wealthiest and most influential women in the world.
