Organic search engine optimization is the process of optimizing a website naturally so that it improves its search engine rankings. The first step in organic search engine optimization is optimizing the actually code of a website. This may include optimizing the meta-tags, adding a sitemap and robots text file and optimizing the internal linking structure. The second step, is creating high quality content for that naturally encourages links from other websites.

The practice of creating link worthy content is organic search engine optimization in its purest form, i.e. sites rankings only improve as a direct result of the quality content on the site. However it should be noted that only a tiny portion of websites ever conform purely to this rigid method. There are many other legitimate ways that websites use to attract links, which include issuing press releases, submitting articles to article directories, writing guest posts on other blogs and even licensing applications and content.
