Image via CrunchBase, source unknown We’ve beaten the topic of Apple’s App Store business model to death on this show before, so this morning we had a slate of guests lined up to discuss iPhone development, including ifByPhone’s Irv Shapiro, Truphone’s James Body, plus Martin Rosinski of Palringo.

BeejiveIM (JiveTalk) coming to the iPhone? Sounds Good, Looks Better

    http://www.theiphoneblog.com/ 2008/ 08/ 27/ beejiveim-jivetalk-coming-to-the-iph…

If you’ve never played around with BeeJive’s JiveTalk, boy, you don’t know what you’re missing! Even though third party apps such as AIM and Palringo are available, I still prefer the look and feel of the JiveTalk WEB APP. I’m sure Crackberry Addicts can attest to JiveTalk’s IM supremacy.

    Palringo Brings Push-to-Talk to iPhone

    http://phoneboy.com/ 2445/ palringo-brings-push-to-talk-to-iphone

I personally don’t understand the fascination with push-to-talk. However, the folks at Palringo, whom put out a multi-service IM client for mobile phones, including the iPhone, now offer push-to-talk on the iPhone. They didn’t offer this functionality when they released the client last month.

    IChat Alternatives.

    http://www.macgasm.net/ 2008/ 08/ 23/ ichat-alternatives/

We are all familiar with IChat, and don’t get me wrong, it is great. But IChat does have its limitations. When I switched from Windows to Mac just a few years ago, I was used to using an all-in-one IM application. I had never used the AIM standalone. And the last time I used IChat was when it was a chat room client.

Push to Voice IM to iPhone

    http://fiercevoip.com/ story/ push-voice-im-iphone/ 2008-08-21?utm_medium=rss&am…

In June, Palringo introduced a push-to-talk-like service for PCs and smart phones. Add the iPhone to the list of devices it supports. Palringo calls its service "vocal IM," says VoIP News. The downloadable client, emulating push-to-talk (PTT), works by pushing a key or button on a handset or keyboard in order to talk.

Roughly a month ago we’ve covered Palringo multi-network IM client for the iPhone. Now they’ve announced the addition of the vocal instant messaging functionality (aka push-to-talk) to its rich messaging application to make it even more usable for the end-users.

    Palringo launches Push-to-Talk on iPhone.

    http://saunderslog.com/ 2008/ 08/ 19/ palringo-launches-push-to-talk-on-iphone/

Today Palringo is unveiling their “vocal instant messaging” on iPhone.  It lets users send the equivalent of a text message, but by voice.  Sound familiar?  Of course.  It’s the service we’ve all come to know and love as “push to talk”.  But unlike traditional push to talk services, this one spans handsets from Apple, Nokia, RIM and Windows Mobile OEMS, plus carriers.

    http://www.realgeek.com/ palringo-releases-a-crucial-update-push-to-talk/

We reviewed an IM application called Palringo and we were very impressed with the way it worked. Palringo has given one more reason for us to rejoice after it has realesed an updated version which now supports Push-to-Talk which is basically the voice equivalent of SMS.
