personal bankruptcy
Personal bankruptcy is when an individual, apart from any company or business, declares a state of bankruptcy.
Bankruptcy is simply the inability to pay off one's debts to creditors.
Personal bankruptcy was first introduced in the 1950's as a way to allow creditors to collect on some of what was owed to them by individuals who were unable to afford to do so on their own.
There are lawyers and legal counsel that specialize in personal bankruptcy and will file on an individual's behalf for a fee. Often times the fee will be based on the individual's allowable income. Regardless of fees, personal bankruptcy is something that must be done in a legal manner through the courts.
