Pest control is any measures taken to reduce or eliminate populations of annoying or harmful insects and animals indoors, in gardens or in crops. Often times, more than one method of pest control must be used in order to achieve the desired affect.

Pest control often involves a chemical pesticide used in conjunction with non-chemical products and techniques, such as traps and sanitation. There are several options for pest control, and choosing the correct combination often depends on the type of pest you are trying to control.

It can be difficult to identify the pests causing damage to your garden or invading your home. Local extension offices can provide a wealth of knowledge on a wide range of common pests, and can often times lead you in the right direction when it comes to controlling them. Often times, you can do it yourself.
