A few months back we blogged about a petition to incorporate Arabic fonts and scripts into Second Life. It seems that Arabic is one of the few remaining languages of the major language groups left out of the game in Second Life.

Yesterday Metanomics had a panel discussion about the interview host Professor Robert Bloomfield had with Chairman Philippe Rosedale of Linden Lab. I enjoyed being in the panel which covered many aspects of the evolution of Second Life and the metaverse.

Early this morning Linden Lab, creators of Second Life, released a press statement in which they announced Tom Hale as Chief Product Officer. To Linden Lab it is the next of many steps they've taken over the past year to move Second Life from a startup to a viable, mature, business.

On this last day of the Picnic conference in Amsterdam I had a video interview with Chairman Philip Rosedale of Linden Lab. The interview was made for a non-specialized audience, and I asked rather general questions such as where Second Life stands in the broader evolution of the internet and how the basic characteristics of the Second Life technology relate to the way the Lindens work.

Yesterday I visited the 3rd Eduverse Symposium in Amsterdam, which Sogeti Netherlands kindly sponsored. Probably one of the highlights of the long and intensive day was Philip Rosedale's talk on his dreams for Second Life.
