Safe from what exactly?  Well… THEFT! of course. Truthfully, most people aren’t concerned about people stealing their images on the Internet.  Should you be? Perhaps.  That’s the simple answer.  Or how about; It depends?

It happens to almost every photographer: Someone “borrows” a photo of yours and uses it without permission. Most of the time, it’s average Joe and Jane, who happen to find your shot on Flickr and it fits the blogpost they were working on. Sometimes it’s worse, and your photo is used for commercial purposes.

I know it’s highly unoriginal but I’m going to point to this failed locking effort that I saw last week: Now, let’s see: Locked to frame? Check. Locked to wheel? Check. Locked both to bike rail? Ummmm… I was tempted to flip the bike around to the other side of the rail, just to screw with the owner’s mind but, given their lack of attention to detail, I doubted they would notice.

One of my clients, a home seller, just contacted me because he’d received a letter from the escrow company handling the closing of the sale on his home. Was he supposed to give the information requested on the form to this particular escrow company?
