The word “Piano” actually comes from the Italian word “Pianoforte” which refers to the instrument's ability to be played both very loudly and very softly. This dichotomy of sound is what makes the piano and piano notes some of the most mysterious and wonderful of the music family.

Piano
notes cannot be matched by any other instrument — acoustic or electrical. They are unique. They seem to transport a person to a new world. When people hear good music played on a piano, it makes them homesick for something they never actually had, and never will have. This is the magic of the piano.

But the piano is also a very demanding mistress. A person must spend a lot of time with her and show her a lot of attention, or he will lose her. And if a person doesn't play the piano for several years, he will sit down and find he cannot play her at all.

"One man gets nothing but discord out of a piano; another gets harmony. No one claims the piano is at fault. Life is about the same. The discord is there, and the harmony is there. Study to play it correctly, and it will give forth the beauty; play it falsely, and it will give forth the ugliness. Life is not at fault." - Unknown
