pittsburgh steelers
Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh Steelers are a member of the North Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Best known for their legendary "iron curtain" defensive line, the black and gold Pittsburgh Steelers are an integral part of professional football history.
The fifth-oldest franchise in the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers joined professional football history in 1933 when Art Rooney purchased the Steelers franchise for a mere $2,500. Eight decades later, the Pittsburgh Steelers proved a worthy investment, having played in six Super Bowls, winning five of them. From 1974 to 1979 the Steelers became the first NFL franchise to win four Super Bowl titles in six seasons.
Avid Pittsburgh Steelers fans own and wave the “terrible towel” created by legendary sportscaster Myron Cope to celebrate team spirit and wave the Steelers on to victory.
