A PMP will need to take and pass a PMP certification exam in order to qualify as a Project Management Professional. From the beginning of any project all the way through to the end, a PMP-certified project manager has all the skills needed to see the job done right.

It asks two hundred questions to test for knowledge in various aspects of project management such as the scope of the project, the time it will take to complete, cost and quality concerns, communications, and risk management. These comprise an ever-evolving set of standards used by commercial businesses as well as government agencies to gauge objectively how a project progresses and how it is completed. In addition, candidates for the certification must have a high school diploma, a college degree, and many thousands of hours in project management experience before challenging the test.

In order to maintain the PMP certification, project managers must engage in activities such as researching, authoring articles, speaking on project management-related topics, or be working at their profession full time. For these reasons and more, a PMP certification exam is internationally regarded as the professional standard for any project manager.
