To make up for recent computational excesses, here are more photos from Seneca State Forest the last week in July. I always prefer to use natural light for my pictures, but these are some dark hollers where the sun refuse to shine.

Tonight was my first time to visit you.  I drove about 25-30 miles to see you.  On the drive there I couldn’t stop thinking about you.  I had high hopes and big dreams for the night.  I really hoped the night would be perfect and special.  Although I wasn’t entirely disappointed I did feel let down and betrayed.

Digitally recreating backgrounds from contemporary animation is really difficult. The artists make use of computer technology, creating multiple layers with moving special effects plus cinematic zooms and pans. Once revealed, however, the art is stunning, beautifully conceived and rendered with sumptuous color palettes.

Here’s a short “promo: for the much anticipated Disney animated Feature “The Princess and the Frog” COMMENTS PLEASE!! I won’t deny having some reservations about this given all the hoopla and rewrites that have taken place, but I’m being nice today so I’ll focus on the positives of what I saw.

All My life I’ve been waiting for a black Disney cartoon, ! I grew up during Disney’s cartoon revival. “The Little Mermaid” (yes I still know all of the songs) “Beauty and the Beast”, “Aladin”(which was filled with it’s own racial stereotypes), “Pocahontas”, and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” were big deals in my time.

Rain Lizards Rain lizards--after a good rain, they come walking out of the woods this time of year. I see them most often squashed in the road, so I was pleased to photograph a couple of living individuals. They were less pleased to be photographed, I think.

The Pocahontas and Friends show at Disney's Animal Kingdom will go dark September 27th, which is the end of this fiscal year for the Walt Disney Company. It's a cute show, definitely fun for the kids to see all the animals, but Disney should be doing more with the Pocahontas character at DAK.

Well-Grown Poison Ivy "Beautiful specimen" and "excellent example" are inappropriate for the less admired plant species, I've been told by botanists. When we see a Giant Ragweed in luxuriant bloom, or a fine stand of Deadly Nightshade, these efflorescences are more properly described as "well-grown." Therefore, let me present this well-grown Poison Ivy plant.
