podcasts
A combination of the words iPod and broadcast, podcasts are like portable radio programs that can be played on computers or made portable with personal media devices.
A podcast can be created with free software and an inexpensive microphone, or with top of the line audio equipment for a professional feel. This flexibility allows almost anyone to create a podcast of their own on any topic of their choice. There are podcasts on everything from celebrities to web design.
Podcasts have become a multimedia staple of the blogosphere as well as a way for traditional radio broadcasters to reach a new audience.
Several websites have sprung up to support the blogging community such as iTunes and BlogTalkRadio.
