polish

Polish (with a capital "P" and pronounced with a long "O") refers to both the language and country of origin of people descended from Poland.

Polish can also be defined as the act of cleaning or shining something to a pristine finish, when it is pronounced with a short "O" in the English language.

If that sounds at all confusing, imagine using both definitions in a single sentence. For example, a foreigner able to fluently speak the native language of Poland might be described as having a particularly polished command of Polish. It is in cases such as these, that a Polish Translator might be considered particularly helpful. Such a master bi-linguist would likely score bonus points if they can demonstrate polish in the telling of Polish jokes.
