pop3
POP3, which stands for Post Office Protocol 3, is the latest version of a communications protocol for receiving email.
It is a client/server procedure wherein an email is received and seized for a particular recipient by an Internet server.
Some well known email products like Windows Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird and Eudora support POP3 and also browsers like Opera or Seamonkey.
POP is also sometimes referred to as a store and forward service because of what it does. POP3 is built to delete mail on a server soon after the user has finished downloading it. Nevertheless, it is possible for a user or the administrator to save email for a specified timeframe.
Bloggers discuss pop3 releated topics at sites like Windows 7 News or Login Helper.
