While the global economy is nose-diving it’s way right off the ledge, social media and digital marketers are holding out hope that a savvy digital strategy is in fact best-suited to survive and perhaps even flourish in the economic downturn.

    Links That Stink

Links That Stink September 30th, 2008 by GCI Canada Staff Todd Defren posts about a practice that is just plain wrong: commenting on people’s blogs under a false name, with the intention of driving “traffic” back to a client’s own blog or website. I put the word traffic in “” because it can’t really be called that.

A prestigious lot to be included in...

    http://measuringupblog.typepad.com/ measuring_up/ 2008/ 08/ a-prestigious-l.html

To celebrate its 10th Anniversary, PR Week (our industry's main trade publication) has created a unique Final Four-like competition among bloggers in the industry. Specifically, its editorial staff selected 16 blogs they admire the most. I'm honored to say that Measuring Up is included in this prestigious group.

Being an intern in a public relations agency

    http://www.chrisnorton.biz/ 2008/ 07/ being-an-intern.html

I have just read a great post on PRsquared about what it's like doing an internship at a public relations agency. The message Laura was trying to disseminate is PR is not that glamorous but it can be fun. In fact, I thought it was so true to life that I read it out loud to our intern at Wolfstar and she found the similarities quite scary.

Being found online is one thing, but what are you being found for?

Earlier this week I did a short interview on blogtalkradio about Going online with Web 2.0 marketing and PR. You can click on the link or listen to it below if you're interested. What struck me was that as I was rambling on about the fact you want to be found online and you want to produce quality

Should You Be in My Google Reader?

    http://socialhoneycomb.com/ should-you-be-in-my-google-reader

Like I often do with my apartment, I’ve let my Google Reader get a bit untidy.  Like my fridge, it’s emptier than I want it to be.  Like my closet, it has some great things in there, but I could always use more.

Word Of Mouth Manual & Feedly

    http://uniquefrequency.com/ 2008/ 06/ 19/ word-of-mouth-manual-feedly/

Haven’t done this in awhile, but I really wanted to direct you to two resources which I found to be extremely valuable just yesterday. Word Of Mouth Manual II Dave Balter who co-authored Grapevine (which I remember reading two years ago) has a new book out called the Word Of Mouth Manual Volume II.

Mary-Kate Figur is the new Editorial Coordinator at Kirkus Reviews who can answer questions about review status or other related general inquiries.  She reminds us to check their “coming-soon page” (which I think I have seen in the past, although when I just checked for it, the Coming Soon link took

    Don’t get blocked

    http://yodiwan.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 12/ dont-get-blocked/

Some of you may remember when WIRED EIC Chris Anderson posted the email addresses of PR people whose addresses he blocked because they had emailed him pitches (rather than bothering to look up the appropriate editor).  Late last week Lifehacker editor Gina Trapani created a PR Spammers Wiki that
