A Project Management Professional certification is recognized by the industry as the most important certification for a project manager. The PMP credential shows that the holder has the necessary experience, has completed the education required and has shown the competency to manage projects successfully.

In order to apply to be a Project Management Professional, the applicant must have a bachelor’s degree and experience in project management of at least three years. A minimum of 4,500 of project management hours and 35 hours of project management educational classes are required to take the PMP certification exam. For those who have a PMP certification, 60 credits of continuing education must be completed every three years in order to maintain the PMP credential.

Earning and maintaining the PMP certification has numerous benefits. One is that those who have a PMP, they have an advantage over the competition for jobs and specific projects. You may also be able to earn more once you have this designation. The PMP puts you in the company of others with the same kinds of professional experience and training and allows you networking and business opportunities. Being a PMP is the recognition of the skills and training of a project manager. ?
