Verizon Loses VoIP Patent Case, Did Vonage Screw Up?
http://andyabramson.blogs.com/ voipwatch/ 2008/ 10/ verizon-loses-v.htmlTechDirt's Mike Masnick has a very to the point post about Verizon being beaten in court by Cox Communications. This reminds me of other cases where companies believe its better to settle than fight, an approach Vonage appeared to have chosen. Cox fought, and WON. Verizon pushed and pushed, backing Vonage into a corner.

Alec Saunders Likes Jazinga
http://andyabramson.blogs.com/ voipwatch/ 2008/ 09/ alec-saunders-l.htmlFor the sake of transparency Jazinga is an agency client. And like so many of our agency's clients, this company has something really special. That's why it's so rewarding to see others whom I respect take such a liking to the Jazinga box.

Get Your eComm Here
http://andyabramson.blogs.com/ voipwatch/ 2008/ 09/ get-your-ecomm.htmlLee Dryburgh has quietly begun to put the word out about eComm, perhaps the most important of all telecom conferences of the year ahead in 2009. The new web site is up, and while Lee is still pulling a lot of the pieces together, the one good thing is he's moved to the original home of eTel, the Burlingame Marriott, which is right near San Francisco International Airport.

Will Samsung P270 UMA Capable Be In T-Mobile's Lineup?
http://andyabramson.blogs.com/ voipwatch/ 2008/ 09/ will-samsung-p2.htmlIt's logical to presume that the Samsung P270 may become the first 3G/Dual mode device in T-Mobile USA's arsenal when the phone arrives in the USA. TMO already does UMA, they have a new 3G network launching and they need differentiation.

BYOD Please, Says Verizon Wireless
http://andyabramson.blogs.com/ voipwatch/ 2008/ 09/ byod-please-say.htmlI expect that the move by Verizon Wireless to allow people to go month to month without a contract and bring their own devices to their network will cause a similar reaction with other mobile operators here in the USA. This also means the market for higher-end, more feature rich phones will finally come to CDMA customers.
