    October and beyond

    http://gondwanaland.com/ mlog/ 2008/ 10/ 09/ october-beyond/

Friday (tomorrow) I’m attending the first Seasteading conference in Burlingame. I blogged about seasteading four years ago. Although the originators of the seastead idea are politically motivated, I’d assign a very low probability to them becoming significantly more politically impactful than some of their inspirations (e.g., micronations and offshore pirate radio, i.e., very marginal).

The latest in a long line of musicians complaining about Presidential candidate John McCain for his use of their music at campaign stops would be the band the Foo Fighters. Now, as we've pointed out in the past, there are two separate issues to keep in mind here: In most cases, there's nothing these bands can do from a legal standpoint.

Sometimes I find it interesting looking at old articles about ‘the future’ on a certain subject to see how it has developed. This article is one of those that I found interesting to read again. It is by Becky Hogge and was first published on 07.12.2006 in openDemocracy.net.
