racism

Tag details

Racism is the belief that genetic variations among human beings, especially those pertaining to skin color, serve as the basis for the superiority of one race over the other. It is grounded in the prejudice and belief of racial hierarchy and justified with pseudoscientific claims.

The greatest crimes against humanity, including genocide and the Holocaust were motivated by racist ideologies. Racism, then, typically results in violence, intolerance, and in its most extreme forms, death and mass extermination.

Bloggers fiercely debate the concept of racism as controversial issues such as reverse racism and its role in affirmative action programs speak to the heart of our interactions within the workplace and the economy’s influence in our lives. For bloggers, racism is a very sensitive topic as we all identify with a race or combination thereof. Thus, to discuss race is to potentially include one’s own biases into the discussion.
