Switzerland-based Rapidshare, as well as other file-hosting services, have been accused of aiding and promoting internet piracy. Rapidshare complies with the DMCA when files are reported to be in copyright violation.

Those piracy concerns aren't without merit, as any search for a particular movie or music title plus the word rapidshare will get you many hits to sites with rapidshare download links in addition to the countless sites devoted to providing a one-stop place for access links to movies, music, games, applications, etc.
