raw foods
Raw foods are full of nutrients, energy, and sheer natural goodness, but they are rarely what we reach out for when hunger strikes. Sure, we know how full of enzymes raw foods are and how enzymes are important for the absorption of nutrients and all that, but we hate it. We also know how bad processed foods are for our health and well being, but we love it.
It is not easy to choose raw foods over flavorful processed foods, but that is because we have trained our palates to be that way. If we had been programmed by our caregivers to like fresh food from an early age, we would’ve taken that road without any fuss. That would’ve saved the world the epidemic of childhood obesity, cholesterol, cancer, diabetes, and the rest of those so-called life-style diseases.
A raw foods diet does not have to mean shaking the mud off the grass before shoving it into your mouth. It can be a glass of fresh juice, a colorful salad, or even a fruit shake. That would be the first step in training our palates to like the goodness of a raw foods diet. You can check out what delights are possible with the lowly fennel at this blog from Laist.com.
