Hearings at Old County Courthouse were to begin last week. A hand count of property tax appeals filed by the Sept. 15 deadline shows that 13,609 property owners have disputed the county’s assessed value for their home or business. That’s 72% more than were filed in 2007, the agency that processes real estate tax appeals reported.
