realty

Realty usually refers to any immovable property or piece of real estate that can be purchased or sold by an owner or a licensed realtor. Whether you are purchasing your own home or getting involved in property management, realty is a tricky business.

For example, a couple decades ago, it seemed everyone and their dog was selling realty in their spare time. A person would hold down a regular full-time job and then go and sell homes and real estate in the evenings to make some extra money. Well, the licensed realtors did not like this one bit because these part-timers were taking over the market. So, suddenly classes and rules were put into place so that not every Tom, Dick, and Harry could sell real estate on the side and make 3%-6% commission. All of a sudden a person had to take classes and pass a bevy of tests in order to be in the realty business.

In recent years, the realty beast has taken another strange turn. People who are trying to sell their realty are trying to avoid the 3%-6% commission by using four simple words: “For Sale by Owner.” People who have no experience in realty are trying to sell it on their own without the help of a professional.
