Rebreather World —

Im getting welding O2 on Hawaii because its cheaper and easier to get. It analyzes just as pure as medical-grade. I compared the two. Has anyone had any trouble with welding-grade O2? Thanks in advance.4 days ago -

A good and OLD friend has just given me his Navy Diving Manual and I have spent the past hour flicking throught it and there were a few pages I thought some of you might be interested to see. It surprised me to see they had a fairly comprehensive knowledge of PO2 and PN2 back then even tho they were pushing both ...5 days ago -

This came up on another thread when we were discussing an accident and bail out options.....I feel that it should be here for general discussion.. On a deep deco dive I mount my unit on twin 80s and use this as dil with an O2 tank bracketed on the side.Switching to the BOV give a large supply of bottom bail out gas. ...5 days ago -
Does RelyOn go bad?
Rebreather World —

I have some 18 month old tablets that have lost their color and look a bit crusty. They still fizz but take about 3 times longer than a fresh one to completely dissolve. Are they safe to use or should I pitch them? Looks like they got a bit moist from humidity.1 week ago -

How many days before of the dive do you prepare your rig ?
Rebreather World —
Authority: 156
I tend to prepare my gear when I have a slot of quiet time in the garage, hopefully during day light (warmer in there !), and that is often on a week-end, 3-4 days before a mid-week, night dive. If it ends up being cancelled, then it may be over a week before the rig is actually dived. Obviously I always re-do all my ...1 week ago -

Right now everything on their website is "on-sale," which is good for holiday gifts, and so far I havent had to pay any shipping even for the heavy stuff. I know it sounds like I must own a piece of it ...2 weeks ago -

I was going to post a reply to Gill Envys post in an accident thread, but thought it could be an inappropriate hijack. So here is his post, emphasis added by me: ---------------------------------------- Re: Rebreater accident in Philippine "But, when the buddy gave his bailout regulators to the victim, he ...2 weeks ago -
Manta Bite for Rebreathers, good or bad?
Rebreather World —
Authority: 156
What do you guys think of Manta Bite mouthpieces for rebreathers? It strikes me as quite a good idea given that water ingress is a definate no no and it should be harder with one of these to knock the DSV out of your mouth?? any thoughts would be appreciated...2 weeks ago -
Scrubber breakthrough limits
Rebreather World —
Authority: 156
It is my understanding that manufacturer CO2 scrubber duration (breakthrough) testing have historically used 0.5kPa or 0.5%SEV as end targets. European standards and NEDU standards use 0.5kPa and 0.5% SEV respectively as their end targets for useable (working) life of a scrubber. In the September DL newsletter, ...2 weeks ago -

Rebreathers and DSMBs
Rebreather World —
Authority: 156
Ok, Ive been trained in the school of DIR and am now sheepishly becoming a CCR diver. Will I still be able to apply the DSMB techniques which I liked and have mastered from my days of DIR? The unit I am getting has a BOV (Classic KISS). My thoughts are, that while still on the loop, I can prepare my DSMB and spool ...2 weeks ago -
Isc Predator first impressions
Rebreather World —
Authority: 156
Having just had a chance to try the ISC Predator in the pool I have to say I am amazed. A tiny rebreather that hardly feels like there is anything there. It is as close to having gills that I can imagine. The Manta counterlung feels like a pillow uner your neck and the gentle pressure it applies during each exhale ...2 weeks ago -

Mask on head, distress? (split from pedants query)
Rebreather World —
Authority: 156
Wearing a mask on your forehead is a sign of a distressed diver. Also, it is common sense not to wear it on your forehead because if it is knocked off your head or falls off and you are in deep water, you can say goodbye to 80 euros!!!! Seen that many times!!!!! Make sense? I teach students this from the start ...3 weeks ago -
Pedants query...SCUBA or rebreather?
Rebreather World —
Authority: 156
Hello Everyone, I have a reather pointless question about terminology that I have been disagreeing with - I contend that a SCUBA, Self- Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus is a perfect description of a rebreather as the unit is eminently self-contained and is designed for breathing underwater. ...3 weeks ago -
