Replica watches, also known as counterfeit watches, copy a watch design created by a famous manufacturer, such as Rolex, Omega or Tag Heuer. As a result, they violate the manufacturer's trademark and design rights.  While possessing such a watch is not illegal, making or selling counterfeit watches is a crime.  It is estimated that counterfeit watches cost the Swiss watch industry alone $655 million in lost sales.

Replica watches usually do not contain all the features and functions of the name brand watch it copies.  The quality and durability of counterfeit watches varies widely as it is dependent upon the material and components used and workmanship.
