safari

Safari, by definition is a trip or expedition for hunting. Big-game hunters used to take safaris and hunt down wildlife that could be valuable to them to sell or trade.

The definition of the word has changed over time. While it is still a journey or expedition, the purpose of a safari is now to provide tourists with an opportunity to observe wildlife in their natural habitat.

Travelers on safari holidays are encouraged to take photographs, not the lives, of any wildlife they find of interest on the journey.

Tourism in Africa thrives on the safaris offered to visitors to the land. Kenya safaris are known as the first ever safaris for tourism.
