safaris

Safaris are journeys over land, typically in Africa. Tourists on safari holidays are generally interested in observing and taking photos of wild animals in their natural habitat, rather than hunting the animals, as used to be the case on a typical safari.

The different types of safaris that can be enjoyed include: walking safaris, guided safaris (often private), mobile safaris, self driven safaris, fly in safaris and safaris by canoe. People have also enjoyed safaris on horseback or riding on top of an elephant... depending on terrain.


Safaris are a great revenue source for some African countries, including: Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, Namibia and Botswana. Kenya safaris are reportedly the first to be done in a tourist setting.
