So you want to start a scrapbook? Well, you will be pleasantly surprised what you can do with just a little bit of time and a few scrapbooking tools.

Johnny's ribbon from the science fair, favorite family recipes, newspaper clippings, famous quotes, part of your baby's dried out umbilical cord, personal letters, and love poems are just a few of the items that can be kept in scrapbooks for future generations to enjoy.

Scrapbooks do not need to be large. Smaller scrapbooks can be kept by a person or family during a vacation and can serve as a type of souvenir of the trip or tour. Many printed books (especially picture books) come with several blank pages at the end, so the owner can personalize the book with their own items and memorabilia.

Scrapbooking is by far the fastest growing sector of the craft industry in the United States, and is one of the best ways to save personal and family history in the form of memorabilia, images, and printed media. More than 25 million people in the United States consider themselves "scrap-bookers" and almost 30% of all U.S. households have at least one family member who scrapbooks.
